High performance does not have to limit design but rather informs and adds depth and meaning to the architectural form.

Alpenglow Design specializes in highly energy-efficient buildings in the residential market. We have a fresh approach of implementing modern technology through innovative means. This focus combined with a high regard for a project’s program results in an exceptional product.

We take our role of aesthetic and environmental stewards seriously and implement a personalized approach to every project.

Passive House (PH) has been an exciting aspect of our services in the southwest and beyond for the last 15 years and our previous experience has helped to implement and expand on this cutting edge design. We offer 3D modeling for all projects, stress the importance of budgets from the start and manage the field for success to the end.

Michael Carrier

Michael earned his Undergrad and Masters of Architecture from Montana State University in 1996 and found a passion for sustainability through the Passive House Institute U.S. (PHIUS) for CPHC training in 2008 and the Passive House Institute (PHI) becoming a certified passive house tradesperson in 2017.

Michael explored hands-on building and contracting for several years and apprenticed in firms and job sites through the Rocky Mountain West, working on an array of projects with various styles. Realizing the efficiency of combining the architectural and building trades, Alpenglow was primarily a design-build company for 18 years.

Today Alpenglow Design works intimately with clients to bring their dreams into reality through thoughtful design, obtainable technology, and a strong team-led approach that results in high-performance buildings, successful projects and a high regard for quality design.
